my god Lisa, what happened to your voice?? you sound like a struggling burnt out rock star. i knew the day was coming when your top notes would be completely destroyed due to the smoking. solid album but i truly miss your former vocal range.

Hey Bev!

how does my alias name factor into my opinion about a performance that is available to view and comment on by the general public? my intention is not to be malicious or disrespectful to you or Lisa. i truly am a HUGE FAN of Lisa's huge body of work. i listen to her just about everyday and can give you every lick or sing you almost every harmonized back up vocal line she has ever recorded. or even talk to you about how she goes against the rules when it comes to phrasing and preparing for big notes. i love it! i truly do! that is why i am saddened when i hear my FAVORITE artist on the planet has not preserved her amazing gift well. i started to hear some of the raspiness on the FACE UP album followed by the Ronnie Scotts performance. i started to realize we probably won't hear her belt those awesome head voice notes she was doin' back on the AFFECTION album, let alone REAL LOVE. she smokes! that's what happens to the vocal chords. why beat around the bush about it?

i waited 10 loooooong years to hear our gal put out another album, supplementing that wait period viewing her recent concerts on youtube. so happy she pulled out some of the B sides from AFFECTION! her best set on youtube is the "Live Barberino Designer Outlet 2013" performance. her vocals were strong and supported.

i honestly do like the versatility in style on SEVEN. i joyfully listened to the album uninterrupted and knew i was in for a treat when her and Ian boldly used "Why" as a second track. brilliant! they took us back to the arista days with "The Crown" (which was this albums version of "Boyfriend"), gave us a clever and slightly contemporary musical theatre piece, "Picket Fence," and wrapped up the album with a classic Barry White/Lisa love makin' track, "Love Can." it's as if he was singing along right with her. i guess you can tell what my favorite tracks are! :)

This huge fan person is the epitome of passive aggression. Note how the tone of the letter purports to be helpful whilst simultaneously undermining the talented Ms. Stansfield. Evil, for sure.

An entertainer's ability to perform, excite and inspire audiences ultimately will have very little to do with pure athletic ability. The body changes over time and so things admittedly don't work as well or 'as they used to' EXCEPT for the undeniable fact that they CAN STILL ENTERTAIN UNIVERSALLY.

If this evil person TRULY does care and value Ms. Stansfield in the way that is carefully, cunningly worded in the response, then they would accept her as she is now without question. I accept Lisa now as before and will continue to support and listen to her artistry for years to come. She is as good or BETTER now than in her younger days because of her integrity, passion and professionalism as a musician.

Remember that she has no significant record company support during all this and her touring is scaled back somewhat as is the case of many performers in the face of current economic and world crises. Again, despite this she continues to inspire and delight audiences worldwide.

Maybe this huge fan is actually a burnt out rockstar who has it in for Stansfield and her new and improved look. Perhaps it is sour grapes which has engendered this loser mentality.
