Performing 'Good Morning Hearthache' at the Zermatt Unplugged Festival in Zurich

23/10/2015

Lisa performed at the Zermatt Unplugged Festival last night in Switzerland. As a special guest she was invited to perform with the Ronnie Scotts All Star band within the sumptuous setting of the famous Kaufleuten club in Zurich.

Lisa sang four songs in-front of a subdued, yet decadent crowd of diners who had forked out a hefty CHF 1,000 (approx GBP 650) per head for the very privilege to sit and listen to Lisa perform on stage with the Ronnie Scott's band for approximately 20 minutes.

To kick off the proceedings, she sang a couple of jazzy numbers which seemed to perfectly suit the opulent ambience with 'Don't Explain' and 'Good Morning Heartache' then gave the audience a couple of crowd-pleaser's with 'Live Together' and finished off with 'All Around The World'.

However it was Lisa’s second song of the night ‘Good Morning Heartache’ (originally sung by Billie Holiday) which was the ultimate stand out moment. It was a true delight to hear Lisa perform this song again. I have fond memories of hearing and seeing Lisa first perform this live on her very first tour more than 25 years ago and many fans from back in the early days will certainly remember it well. So it was a genuine pleasure to hear Lisa sing this live again. (Lisa was initially inspired by this track from her teenage years after first seeing Diana Ross playing Billie Holiday in the biopic movie Lady Sings the Blues).

Overall a magnificent evening in Zurich spent in exceptional company.

Lisa attended the 2015 BMI London Awards at London's Dorchester Hotel (Park Lane) this evening.

She performed with 10cc's Internationally-celebrated songwriter/artist, Graham Gouldman who was named this year's BMI Icon for his "unique and indelible influence on generations of music". He celebrated the honour with a duet with Lisa, performing 'I'm Not In Love' and 'Dreadlock Holiday'. This was the first time the pair have duetted and created a truly spine-tingling moment to celebrate Graham’s incredible and enduring career.

The invitation-only gala recognises the UK and European songwriters and publishers of the past year’s most-played BMI songs on American radio and television.

Lisa performs in Milan for the charity Oxfam Italia, against world hunger

20/11/2014

Here's a small clip of Lisa performing an acoustic version of 'Carry On' with Dave Oliver, Snowboy and Ruby Rose at the 'Women's Circle 2014'. This annual fundraising event is to celebrate the work done with and for women.
Lisa performed at the East End Studios in Milan on 20th November for the third edition of the Women's Circle, the annual event to raise funds for Oxfam to celebrate the work done with and for women against world hunger. An evening supported and promoted by The Circle, the group founded in 2008 in London by Annie Lennox and launched in Italy by Antonella Antonelli and Livia Firth, Global Ambassador for Oxfam. Women's Circle is also the occasion when retrace the challenges met during the past year and those proposing to launch in the next. One above all, bring to the story because it counts 805 million people still suffer from hunger in the world: a number all the more unacceptable, because never before have there are means and resources to end it.

For the charity event hosted by Ilaria D'Amico is sold out with about 1,000 guests . The evening includeded performances by Lisa Stansfield, Dire Straits Legends, artists have always committed to the defense of social causes, and Malika Ayane, ambassador of Oxfam Italy.

Maurizia Iachino, president of Oxfam Italy explained: "We have chosen to fight hunger at the side of women. The countries with the biggest problems of malnutrition are in fact the same in which women lack resources, education and opportunities. In rural areas, women produce between 60% and 80% of the food, despite having only 10% of revenues and 1% of the land: if they had the same resources as men, they could feed 150 million people more. Why Oxfam Italy has launched a campaign with women to combat hunger. Last year we were able to directly help 220,000 people in 18 countries, now we want to increase the objectives and results, ensuring women training, resources, access to credit and to the earth. I sincerely thank all the women of The Circle Italy and the passion with which we have devoted time, energy and professionalism. "

Antonella Antonelli, founder of The Circle Italian added: "The Circle means get in a circle and each with their own ideas, their experience, their professionalism, is at the service of others, doing. Can experiment with The Circle, in Italy and in the world, a voluntary spontaneous and concrete, as well as the opportunity to participate at the forefront in solidarity projects as important, wowed all, since 2011. For this year too, The Circle of Women in Italy are proud to confirm, with the Women's Circle, their commitment to the projects of Oxfam. Indigniamoci. Commuoviamoci and continue to be, together, part of the change. "
