Lisa has no doubt been around the world a few times over these past 25 years or so, and it's probably starting to feel a little like that again for her as these past few weeks and months have been keeping her very busy. With a recent sell-out UK and European tour behind her that finished up in Latvia on 4th November, Lisa's feet have barely touched the ground. Straight after the Riga show in Latvia, Lisa was supposed to fly to Las Vegas to perform at the 'Soul Train Awards', however she had a last minute change of plans. An announcement on Thursday confirmed that Lisa accepted to perform at the Press Ball in Augsburg, Germany on Saturday 8th instead (in replacement of the Anastacia who was unable to attend due to illness). Lisa and her band flew back to Germany on Saturday with a midnight performance and a 1 hour set to a packed out audience of 2500 people. After a busy and successful year so far, we hope that Lisa will be able to take a much deserved rest as she is expected to go back into the studio soon to start recording her next album. Watch this space! In the meantime, take a look at the photos taken by Fred Schollhorn from Saturday evenings Pressball gala:

Lisa's penultimate gig of her European tour at the Torwar in Warsaw was a selll-out on Monday evening. Take a look at some great photos from local photographer Rafal Kudyba The complete European Tour photo gallery can be viewed here! and some further impressive photography below from Darek Jackdaw With just two more dates of the european tour (pt.2) left, in Warsaw tomorrow night and finally Riga on the 4th November, the overwhelming opinion is that Prague has probably been one of the best shows of the tour so far. From a crowd and performance perspective it appeared that everyone had a ball. Snowboy, (Lisa's percussionist of more than 25 years) kindly shared a couple of his fly on the wall photos with us from last nights show and added some heartfelt words about the Prague gig. Snowboy says "It would be wrong to say that last nights concert in Prague was one of the best in the last 10 years, because the Baltic Soul Weekender and (from my personal perspective) Southend-on-sea take some beating. The huge crowd in this sold-out theatre just went crazy at everything and Lisa and the band were right on it. I wish I could relive the show. Definitely in the top 3 and probably in the top 10 all-time!" After the sound check Mick went off to the pub as he seemed very concerned that his guests wouldn’t be able to find their way to the Sage, despite it being the biggest building for twenty miles around. In fact, he was so concerned for their welfare, he went a good two hours before the show started – just to make absolutely sure they got here safely. This week Lisa and her amazing band have been rehearsing at a John Henry's in North London. Here's a little sneak preview behind the scenes just before they all headed off up north on their luxurious tour-bus towards Birmingham. Tomorrow evening Lisa will perform her first night of her UK tour at the gorgeous Symphony Hall.
Great news for all those fans based over in Eastern Europe. Lisa has added another date to her tour agenda on the 4th November in Riga, Latvia at the "Arena Riga".
The news was announced by Inessa Keisha who is the spokeswoman for the Eastern european promoter «Makroconcert» today. The tickets are available from local ticket agencies now. This is not Lisa's first visit to Latvia, she performed there back in 2009 for the "New Wave 2009» show. Andrea Grant knew from a young age that she always wanted to be a singer. She attending the UK's BRIT School, now famous for the likes of Jessie J. and Adele. Then in her late teens and into her early 20's, Andrea secured two UK major label record deals as well as spending several years recording radio jingles. Her experience led her to session work for amazing artists such as the late James Brown, Patti Labelle, Queen, Roger Daltrey, Donna Summer, Stevie Wonder, Amy Winehouse, Leona Lewis, Alicia Keys, Will Young, Cliff Richard, Joss Stone, Charlotte Church, Shirley Bassey, Paloma Faith, Gloria Gaynor to name but a few. Additionally, she was a backing singer for Tony Hadley (of Spandau Ballet) for many years and toured the world with none other than Robbie Williams. Furthermore, Andrea is one of the UK's finest backing singers and has been a member of The Strictly Come Dancing Band on UK's popular BBC TV show, "Strictly Come Dancing" for several years. I first heard Andrea's unique vocal talents at Lisa's XOYO London gig back in the Autumn of 2012 and I had one of those "wow! moments on hearing her belt out the opening intro' line to "Can't Dance". Her vocal performance simply blew me away and throughout the concert I was like, "who's that voice?" Bev: How did you get to that point of turning singing from a hobby, into full-time career? Bev: You've done quite a few gigs with Lisa now. Some dates in 2012, 2013 and then last year she mixed it up a bit between you and Elle (Lorraine Cato-Price). Bev: What is it like travelling on a tour bus with all these guys and who's generally the most untidiest? Exciting news for Lisa fans. She will be extending her tour and has added some extra shows in Europe. There will be two further shows in The Netherlands, one in Luxembourg, two more in Germany and one show in Poland. I approached the tour-bus (which was easy to spot as it stood out from the rest) being pistachio green, double-decker with tinted black windows and the give-away clue was that it was parked-up directly outside the venue. I tapped on window and to my surprise the side-door automatically slides open. Down steps John Thirkell (Trumpet). We exchange pleasantries and he greets me with a typical Swiss, three cheek kiss. I start off by asking Dave about the journey over to Switzerland and what it was like to be on the road again with Lisa and the rest of the band? Bev: When do you start working again with your own band, Mamas Gun? |
